Tackling Obesity Together

Higher BMI is associated with impaired memory function, new research published by the University of Cambridge has found. The study shows that obesity has a significant impact on brain structure and function, and adds to the growing body of evidence suggesting that the mental deficits associated with obesity are present early in life. It further supports previous studies have shown that obesity indeed has neurological consequences – it is associated with altered function in, and shrinkage of, certain parts of the brain, particularly the parts affecting intelligence and critical for memory formation.
